Before we start treating our patients it´s important to know the medical golden rule. You should apply this rule also with your family and friends. This rule should be very important in your life.

EMPATHY- The golden rule

As doctors we need to be aware of our responsibilities towards our patients and their feelings.

Empathy is the ability to understand how someone feels. If we can understand how someone feels, or empathize with them, we can decide to say or do something that makes them feel better.

It is important that we can recognize our emotions and know when it´s necessary to control them.

Our patients can feel these ways when they come to our medical offices:

-Confused

-Frustrated

-Embarrassed

-Uncomfortable 

-Worried 

- Shy 

- Lonely
-Angry 

- Calm

Antes de comenzar a tratar a nuestros pacientes, es importante conocer la regla de oro médica. Debéis aplicar esta regla también con vuestra familia y amigos. Esta regla debería ser muy importante en vuestra vida.

EMPATÍA: la regla de oro

Como médicos, debemos ser conscientes de nuestras responsabilidades hacia nuestros pacientes y sus sentimientos.

La empatía es la capacidad de comprender cómo se siente alguien. Si podemos entender cómo se siente alguien o empatizar con él, podemos decidir decir o hacer algo que lo haga sentir mejor.

Es importante que podamos reconocer nuestras emociones y saber cuándo es necesario controlarlas.

Nuestros pacientes pueden sentirse de esta manera cuando vienen a nuestras consultas médicas:

-Confuso

-Frustrado

-Desconcertado

-Incómodo

-Preocupado

- tímido

- Solitario

-Enojado

- Calma

The MIR exam (Médico Interno Residente) is the test required of doctors, Spanish or foreign, to access a position as a specialist training doctor in the National Health System in Spain. 

As you are children, this test will be adapted to your age. Good luck!
